A Michigan builder’s program that was developed under our exclusive Real Track SM system. It encompasses all necessary subjects required to pass the Michigan Builder’s Examination according to the official candidate handbook and content outline available from PSI examination services. You may register for the examination by calling 1-800-733-9267 or through www.psiexams.com. Licensing information may be obtained from the Michigan Department of Labor and Economic Growth at 517-241-9254. Our course can be attended through classroom attendance or as a home study course. Both methods are highly recommended and extremely effective. Before you apply for the license, you must also pass the required Residential Builder or Maintenance and Alteration Contractor exam. For exam information, contact PSI, the exam provider, at (800) 733-9267 or go to their website at www.psiexams.com.
If you are conducting business as a corporation, limited liability company, or a partnership, you must have a company license and your qualifying officer must have an individual license. You may obtain a company application on our website or contact the Builders Unit toll free at (866) 630-6608
After student completes 60 hour prelicensure course: Must obtain an Individual Residential Builder and Maintenance & Alteration Contractor License Application on the Builders website at www.michigan.gov/builders , under "Forms & Publications". The license application must be submitted with the application fee and a completed Residential Builder and Maintenance & Alteration Contractor Prelicensure Education Reporting Form which is also available on the Builders website. A copy of the official certificate(s) of completion given to you by the course provider must be attached to the prelicensure education reporting form for each course you have completed. The certificate(s) must document 60 hours of approved prelicensure courses. A course will not be accepted without the certificate(s) attached. The prelicensure reporting form is also available on the Builders website.
Attach the completed Residential Builder and Maintenance & Alteration Contractor Prelicensure Education Reporting Form (BCS/LBL-019) and the certificate(s) of completion to the license application and submit it to the Builders Unit.
